In September, Jo Hart and Lucie Byrne-Davis joined a new team, led by David Keen of Health Education England, who had been funded by UKIERI to support development of mental health nursing in West Bengal. Together with Chris Dzikiti, mental health lead from the north Central London STP and JS Bamrah, Chair of BAPIO, Jo and Lucie went to Kolkata to meet with colleagues from the West Bengal Government and leading health institutions.
A successful scoping visit led to a project plan, which will start to drive sustainable change in mental health nursing practice in secondary and tertiary health facilities. Much more to follow as we continue to work on this very exciting project with our UK and Indian multi-disciplinary team.
